A World of Misfit's. . .

Shadowstep started giggling evily, "Shall we make a big entry or not?"

The Circus Master looked at her, "What kind of 'big' entry?" Shadowstep giggled evily and whispered in her ear. "oh that is evil. . .lets do it!"

In the dinning hall, everything was calm. When a boom was heard above the Tent and the whole area flodded with black fog. The Commander, The Circus Master, and Shadowstep. All entered, their bodies were black and eyes blood red. Everyone thought they had went insane, to the dark side, or were traitors. Then They all started laughing. The fog dissipated and they went back to their normal forms.

"I Told you!!!!" Shadowstep said inbetween gasp of breath she was laughing so hard.

The Circus Master grinned darkly, giggling.
"I must admit, that was fun~!"

The Commander shook his head, only offering a soft chuckle before finding a table for three.
Being a gentlemen, he drew out the chairs for The Circus Master and ShadowStep before being seated.

Shadowstep covers her mouth to keep from giggling, Mirror walks up to them.

"Ok, your not supposed to be using your powers. . ."

"Yes, i know!"

"Then, How. Did. You. Do. It?!?!?!" Mirror really wanted to know.

Shadow pulled out four separate containers, "I really Realy like Alchemy~!" Vate walked in at the same moment.

"Shadowstep, I thought i said no using your powers!"

"I didn't!"

"Still. . .I need to change your bandages, so i came here!"

"Vate, i would have come right after dinner."

"I know but I really wanted to know how it looked! It has been a week you know."

"Really? Huh. . ."

"So come on, Can I?" He pleaded and used his best Desu eyes.

"Fine. . ." She stood still while Vate unwrapped the Bandages around her shoulder, Everyone who was there and others gathered to see Shadow. They were shocked to figure out her father did it to her. The size of it had growth barely. Even if she isn't using her magic. The wound was slowly growing.

Vate bit down of his lip. "Not. . Good. . ."
Slowly he started to replace the bandages, shooing people away before he did.

"Shadow," he mumbled. "I need to know if there is anything curious about a Shadow-Walker's healing system. Anything that might help or hinder your wound."

Shadow stood at the Table and hit it repeatedly. "Yesterday It was totally fine! I-It had healed so much! but now. . ."

Vate placed a hand on her back, "Is there anything that you may have done?"

She shooked her head, "The only thing i have done is alchmey and that does't use any powe-" She broke off suddenly gripping her shoulder, Vate slowly moved the bandages.

"Shadow, come with me. Now." She nodded. stood, and walked out to the infirmary, Vate whispered in The Circus Master's er before they left. "It's getting closer to her heart, I am afraid if it does reach it, it will engulf her in light and kill her." The Circus Master nodded.

Once in the infirmary, vate was tearing through healing books and any resources he had on Shadow-Walkers.


"I'm going to fix this, Shadow. ." he comented reasurringly. "I have never let a patcient down before. . ."

Shadow lay resting on one of the beds, " I Know. . .your one of the nicest people here. . .I know i can trust you to find something. . ."

Vate stopped momentarily, "Y-you do?"

Shadow nodded, "That's why your their best healer, Ve~?"

"Yea. . .right. . ." He had barely heard her.

"I think. . .when i am healed. . .I'll help organized these books. . ." She laughed lightly, trailing off she feel asleep.

"Shadow? . . .Shadow?!?" He looked paniced when she stopped talking, only to look over and discover that she was asleep. "oh. . ." He went back to the book's.

The Circus Master had taken the enchanted blade that Shadow had carried around after her father stabbed her with it to an Master Magician.

The Magician turned the blade over steadily in her hands. Silently studying the weapon.

"I see. . . . "

"Do you think you can help?"

"Very possibly."

Vate flipped through one last book, he found it at the back of all the books, piled underneath many. It's title was "All Illness and Curse For Shadow-Walker's". Vate had been searching through-out the book, for such a small book it held a lot of information. Now he could see why Shadow said she help organize the books. . .

"Vate! I think i found something!" The Circus Master walked in with a Magician.

"Me to! I found this book at the bottom of a stack, It has really helpful things!"

"Good. . .This is good. . .hopefully we can reverse this. . .or at least Halt the process. . ."

"Yea. . .So what did you find?" Vate asked, his cat ears perked up is curiosity.

"There are chemical traces left on this blade. . . A Magyk element. . . But. . ."

"Since there are still traces I may be able to discover how to fight it!!"

"pricesly."

"What did you find Vate?" The Circus Master Asked.

"Look," He placed the book under a light, it glowed and showed a wound like Shadow's. "It says, If we use the Magyk Residue that was left on the blade/wound and says this it could really help, but the rest in written in their language. So it could mean it heals it completely, stops the progess to were the inflected person can use magic or just slowly heal over time. . ."

" I believe it doesn't truly matter as long as we save Shadow's life. . ."

Vate nodded. "I am going to do all that I can."

The Circus Master and Vate both looked over at Shadowstep. She was sleeping peacefully but the expression on her face was one of pain.
"She is in a lot of pain all the time but she doesn't want to show she's weak. . ." The Circus Master said aloud.

"I think that she's scared. . .that if she shows a weak side someone would try to hurt her. . ." she added

"That's why she does alchemy and Mechanics isn't it?" Vate asked.

The Circus Master nodded, "I believe so, she is good at Smithing and Welding, she can weild a sword with a trained experts eye. . ., She just wants to be strong and the wound is slowing her down. . ."

The Circus Master laughed softly. . "I can relate."

They stood quietly for a minute before Vate nodded. "Right, let us get to work then!"

When ShadowStep awoke, she was aware of a soft, cool, tingling on her wounded shoulder.
She looked over to see it freshly bandaged, but something was different.
It seemed better. . Not healed, but better.

Shadow lifted her unwounded arm and lightly touched it, grimiceing in pain. Not that it hurt, it only hurt to touch. At that moment Vate's head peeked in.

"Yay! Your up!" Vate squeal with excitment and ran over to her bed.

"Yes. . .Why was i not supposed to be?"

"Well. . .yes you are but you worried us!"

"Us?" she stated in suprize,"Who's 'us'?" Vate pointed to the front of the tent where The Circus Master and The Commander awaited.

Vate whispered in her ear, "Although The Commander didn't worry as much as The Circus Master, he is kinda slow to trust. . ."

"I heard that Vate!" The Commander glared at him.

"Sorry!" Shadowstep was laughing, the Circus Master walked up.

"How do you feel?"

"Better. . .It doesn't hurt now. . .that is unless you touch it. . ."

Vate nodded. "Good. Good." He looked over to the Circus Master, pride evident in his face.
"You were right. . . It worked!"

The Circus Master smiled warmly and pat his head, she had practically raised the young neko boy and enjoyed his break through.
"Da~! Why don't you go tell Ice? I am sure she would love to hear!"

He nodded lightly and hurried out.
The Circus Master moved to sit next to Shadow.

"Much better, I am glad."

((Blargh!!!! Now i have to rewrite My Russian Rolute Sceeeneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee))

"Do you think I can practice My Shadow Magyk soon?"

"Probably, but you know I would let that try to heal and if it stays the same, I would just try small amouts of magyk at a time. . ."

"I think sssshe ssshould jussst get a life other then ssssshadow magyk. . ." The Commander stated rolling his eyes.

Shadow smiled, "Sorry I kind of promised Vate I would help Organize his medical books. . .maybe I should build some book cases. . ."

The Circus Master laughed lightly, "Already pondering what to do?"

Shadow smiled and nodded, "Alphabetical Order, On Metal Bookcases, maybe re-bind some. . .OH! and we can get some species to translate for us so it's all in the same language, maybe re-draw some that need it. . ."

The Circus mater placed a hand on Shadow's shoulder, "Ok, I get it. This place is going to look great but you need rest. . .Ok?"

"Fine. . ." Shadowstep sounded bumed out, which causes the Circus Master to laugh more.

"You will resssst." The Commader replied sternly.

"No building until then, underssssstoood?"

Shadow opened her mouth as if she was going to say something, which got a super stren look from the commander, she closed it and laid down.

"Fine but i feel great. . ."

"If you feel great now you'll feel super after you sleep." The Circus Master added.

Shadowstep sighed and closed her eyes, within the first few minutes she became sound asleep, The Commander and The Circus Master both left, Vate returned with Ice but Shadow was already asleep, "I'll show you later!" her whispered excitedly in her ear.

When ShadowStep awoke, the mornings first lights were touching the earth.
The first thing she became aware of was that she was cold,
the second was that she wasn't alone in the room.

"Goodmorning."
She looked over to see Mirage sitting in one of the chairs, toying with her iPod.
"How do you feel?"

"I. . .I feel fine. . .," she wondered, "Hey, Mirage?"

"Yes?"

"H-How long was I asleep?"

Mirage sighed, "You weren't exactly asleep. . ."

"What do you mean?"

"Your cold right? It's spring outside. . ."

"It's Spring? Last I Remember it was the last few days of winter. . ."

"You kinda. . .scared Vate. . ."

Shadow realized what she ment, "Your saying I died?!?!?!"

Mirage nodded, "You died, then woke up, and then went into a coma. . .The Circus Master sationed me here so she could check up on you. . .I should probably tell Vate you finally woke up. . ."

Shadowstep could not believe it. She died and went into a coma. . .It's spring and she's chilled to the bone. Mirage communacated to The Circus Master and then Vate. Vate quickly showed up not a few minutes later and hugged Shadow.

"I. . .I thought you had. . .That I had failed you. . ." Vate said almost crying.

Shadowstep hugged him, "I had faith in your abilites, Why would i not be ok?"

Vate smiled, "Don't be kind. . .I killed you!"

"You didn't kill me. Trust me." Shadow tried calming him down.

"I-I have never failed before. . . This. . "
He still seemed a bit shaken up but better.

The Circus Master stepped into the room, her face tinged with worry that melted away.
She laughed aloud, marching up and laying her hand on Shadow's shoulder.

"Welcome back, da!"

Shadowstep looked up and smiled, "Ve~, but i am a little cold. . ."

Vate looked up, "Because I killed You!!!!"

"Vate, you didn't kill her, the wound did. I bet it thought it had one last chance to kill you. . .it didn't work, my best magician was right there working her magyk on you right when that happened." The Circus Master tried to make him feel better.

"It. . .still feels like. . .my fault. . ." Vate sniffled.

"It wasn't. . ." Shadow placed her hand on his shoulder, looking him in the eyes.

"Umm Shadow. . .", he got her attention.

"Yea?"

"I can't look you in the eye. . . "

"Why not?"

"Because I don;t know where they are. . .", he comment made The Circus Master and Shadow laugh, even though it was true it was still funny.

The Circus Master patted Vate's back. "Relax now Vai, go look up Ice. I bet she is wondering where you vanished to. . "

"Oh! Right!" He replied, ears perking up. "I'll be going then, sorry for killing you Shadow!" He called as he ran out the door.
The Circus Master shook her head, laughing quietly.

Shadow smiled warmly at the fact that everything was going to be okay. Maybe the wound had stopped growing, maybe she could be a Shadow-Walker again.

"Sooooo. . .can i cast magyk again?"

"You should be able to."

". . .I. . .I am scared to. . ." Shadow looked away.

"It's okay to be scared. . ." The Circus Master looked behind her and waved in the Magician. "I'll have her stand by just incase something gos wrong. . .Ok?"

"Yea. . .I guess so. . ." Shadow sat up promptly. She had to try. She needed to try. She needed to prove to herself that she can do this.
