Destiny's Curse

The three went into the armoury. "Back from breakfast already?" Vate asked, looking up from his book.

"Destiny started having visions," Ice replied.

"I did," Destiny agreed. "It's a good thing that the visions have a limit."

"What's that?" Dawn asked.

"Three a day," Destiny replied. "Rarely have there ever been anymore and only on the people I am very very close to."

"When you say very very close do you mean, like, close as in you know them well and they are like family, or close like you're a few feet from them?" Dawn inquired.

((For all those who do not know and have not been following the other rp's, this comes after Vate takes in Ice as his apprentice.))

"Knowing them well close," Destiny replied. She went to sit on her bed.

"Vate," Ice asked, "can I do anything to help you today?"

"Don't you have to train?" Vate asked.

"After lunch," Ice said with a small smile. "Which means I can spend all morning helping you out."

"Alright," Vate said. "Grab a book and start reading. Dawn, do you care to join us? Destiny?"

"I care to try and sleep," Destiny said.

Vate nodded gently. "I understand."

Once the girl was asleep Dawn looked up at Vate and Ice, "I worry that her gift is harder on her than she admits?"

Vate nodded, his cat ears drooping.

"She's just so young. . . It has to be harder than she cares to admit. . "

"I agree," Ice agreed, taking an herb book and sitting cross-legged in a chair beside Vate.
"But she doesn't want people to worry about her."

She opened the book and stared at the page, playing with her necklace. It started glowing faintly.

"What does that necklace do?" Dawn said finally having the chance to ask.

Ice felt the smooth blue stone.
"I don't know," she said. "Maybe it helps me remember all this." She motioned to the book.
"Why?"

"It's glowing," Dawn answered.

"May I see it?" Vate asked, looking up from his book.

Ice took it off and handed it to him. "What do you think?" she asked.

Vate stared at it a moment, "I think I may have seen this somewhere.

He started looking through several books trying to find it.

"I swear I have. . " the Neko boy continued, finally landing on a torn and stained page.

Ice peeked over his shoulder, the stone on the page did mirror her's in resemblance. . .

"It's a... energy stone," Ice said.

"How did you know that?" Vate asked.

"It says in the page right there," she answered. Both Dawn and Vate gave her a strange look.
"That page isn't in English is it?" she asked.
They shook their heads.
"Alrighty then," Ice said. "Apparently I can read whatever language this is in." She paused. "It's fae."

Dawn looked at it again, "It's more than Fae, I can't read it but I can tell it's dark fairy in particular."

Ice looked uncomfortable.
Why Dawn insisted to keep bringing up her evil heritage, she wasn't sure.

"It's not only dark," she argued. "It's something else..." She thought for a moment.
"It's... Storm fae. A mixture of darkness, electric or fire, and water."

She stopped. "Oi... I hate not having a memory."

Dawn shook her head, not understanding Ice didn't want to have anything to do with her dark side, "I don't know anything about the other fairy types but I've never even seen their ways of writing..but I would remember this any where."

Dawn wasn't to help, she didn't realize how upsetting this was for Dawn.

Vate remained mute. Staring down at the page, concentrating.

"Hm, Hai(yes). . ."

He tapped his fingers lightly, maybe he was experiencing amnesia? He felt like a memory should be there. . .
"Ah. . . Now I remember." He said softly moving away from his book with a troubeled expression.

"What?" Ice asked.
She did not like the look on his face.
"Vate?" she asked again.

Vate's cat ears twitched softly.
"It is. . . It just. . ." He sighed. He wasn't getting anywhere this way. . .

He moved slowly towards one of his shelves, pulling down a small oriental box.
He lifted the lid, revealing a very similar, darker stone.

"You have one too," Ice quietly finished.
Her glowing stone seemed to react to his. It started glowing brighter and made his light up as well.
"That means... not only fae have them," she said. "But fae talk about them."
They three looked at the two glowing stones.

Vate nodded slowly. "I just do not remember where I. . . ."

He stopped, biting his lip.

Ice sighed.

"Looks like a dead end," Dawn said. "Unless the book has anything useful."

Ice looked at Vate. "Do you remember anything at all?" she asked gently.

Vate sat queitly for a moment.

"Rulis. . ."

"What?"

"Rulis. . . She was of Fae blood. . ."

"Who was Rulis?" Ice asked.
She felt a complex mystery lay before her.
She looked at Dawn. The Nymph looked as confused as she.

Vate sighed lightly.

"When The Circus went to Germany. . . We were welcomed by a woman named Rulis. She was the one who gave it to me. . .She helped me strengthn my healing powers and helped the Circus over all. . ."

He winced slightly.
"She. . . Proved to be a traitor though."

"Oh..." Ice said. She looked down.
"I'm sorry Vate."

There was silence.

"Some people are put in our life for a reason, even if they turn out to be bad for us in the end," she said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
