Wandering

Ice sat back, watching The Circus Commander and Dawn. As much as she knew that Milady Master was right, she also knew something else.

Dawn. She was a nymph. But only half. The other part of her was... Elven. A halfling. Ice new that she herself could be considered a halfling, but her bloodline was a mixture of the fae and the Elves, creating a new race, a pure race. The bloodline took the best traits of both races, no matter what kind of fae or Elf they came from.

No matter what fae or Elf they came from...

If it was also true for other halfling races, even those that had not been going on for hundreds, even thousands of years, she wondered what 'gifts' the new girl had gotten from her parents.

"Come along then~." The Circus Master replied.

"I'm sure the cooks have somethign wonderful prepared!"

The Circus Master lead Dawn and Ice down to the mess hall.
Just as she had said, the aroma within the room proved the cooks had once again out done themselves.

The smells of food made Dawns stomach rumble, it wasn't until now that she'd realized she hadn't eaten sense last nigh.


"What time of day are meals served?" Dawn asked the Master quietly.

The Circus Master smiled softly, leading the girls to a table for three.
"Breatfast is from Eight A.M. Sharp to Nine-forty, Lunch from Eleven to twelve, lastly dinner from Seven to Eight forty-five." She laughed.
"But if you befriend the cooks, I'm sure you can come and eat as you wish."
She then raised her hand lightly, signaling one of the servers from the other side of the room. The girl nodded, rushing into the kitchen and returning with three bowls of hot soup, pastry dessert, and mugs of coffe.

Dawn looked at the food. She'd never had something quiet like it, and the drink, it looked like muddy water and smelled about as bad she scrunched her nose after staking a small sip of the bitter liquid.

"What is this?" The bitter taste lingered in her mouth making her face scrunch some more.

The Circus Master laughed aloud. "First time having coffee, da? Do not fret, it's an acquired taste. Hated it the first time I tried it too. . ." She sighed lightly.

"Good thing we gave you some now though, we were going to se if you could hadel Vodka!"

She raised an eye brow and jokingly said, "Sounds scary."

Dawn picked up her pastry with her fingers and took a bite, "Whoa! It's so sweet! What is it?"

"It is called kissle," The Circus Master replied.

"Its one of my favorites!"
Dawn smiled slightly and took another bite.

"Don't worry," The Circus Master added. "Russia has more to offer~."

Dawn ate every bit of her pastry and soup..she didn't ever get the guts to drink more of the coffee by the time she was finished she felt sick to her stomach. She hadn't had foods so rich in flavor, or so much food at one time in..well ever sense she could remember..and that, that was a long time.

"Thank you so much for the food..but..I don't think I should be eating it.." Dawns face tuned a little paler.

The Circus Master frowned slightly, tilting her head.
"Alright, as you wish."

Dawn looked at her, "I'm really sorry, it's divine..but..I'm not feeling too well now. My diet has been very bland for most of my life..this is upsetting my stomach."

Dawn thought she'd offended the Master. The look on her face wasn't one she liked to see.

"Nyet, child, I understand. . ." The Circus Master continued. Tapping her fingers on the table, lightly.

"I am just attempting to come up with a solution~."

Dawn looked down, "I'm sorry I'm such a problem..."She paused a moment before continuing, "How am I going to repay you for your troubles?"

"A problem?" The Circus Master repeated softly. "Trust me, you aren't a problem. I would much rather deal with these smaller issues then some of what I've experienced. . . "
The last of her statement tinged with saddness. "You will never have to repay me~."

Dawn looked down again, "Didn't you say something about a circus?"

"Well, there is that. . ." The Circus Master began. "It's how we keep our sanctuary running. . . Even misfits need money."
She went silent for a moment, then cocked her head at Dawn.

"What are your greatest talents?"

Dawn thought a moment, "My accuracy with a a bow an arrow is deadly..but..there is one other thing."

The Master looked at her, "Yes?"

"Well," Dawn sighed, "I do have strong water "magic" so to speak and weak control over other elements..but..there's...a problem with that." Dawn said.

The Circus Master's eyes narrowed in concern.

"A problem?"

"Well...to control them without singing is something very hard to do..but I can..the issue is they're connected to my emotions.." She paused, "And even that wouldn't be a problem if when I'm connected it didn't open up my mind and my memories. They come poring out of me replaying in my head with perfect recollection. So now I'm replaying all of my memories most of which are upsetting and controlling the elements...and that makes me loose some control over the thing I'm working with. Making it..unpredictable at times and dangerous." Dawn sighed after finishing her explanation.

"Then why don't you sing?" The Master asked Dawn.

"I'm part Nymph," Dawn said like that should explain it all.

The Circus Master nodded slwoly, she had worked with Nymphs before but couldn't quite piece what Dawn wa implying.

"Further explanation, please?" She inquired.

Dawn was shaking a bit, "Well, You see, it's only because of my elven father that when I talk it doesn't have to be enchanting and luring to people. Full blood nymphs can't do that when they talk or sing. I can't control it when I sing. So if I control the Elements by singing it also is luring and manipulative of the listeners. It can ruin lives, relationship and minds. Men in particular are vulnerable. My voice sounds different to everyone. It is their idea of perfect, and it's haunting to some people, it follows them in their dreams always remembering but never able to find it anywhere but with me. It depends on the song on how strong it is, but humans are particularly vulnerable to it. So it won't matter what I pick to sing it will effect them strongly. If I wanted to I could have the entire audience of human commit mass suicide just be willing them to with my singing." She looked down quickly her hood falling further over her face. "It's horrible what it can do."

The Circus Master lay her hand on Dawn's shoulder reasuringly.

"What a dangerous gift. . . A bit of a mocking power curse. . " She replied sympathetically.

"It's beautiful what I can do with elements when I'm singing, the way the mold and bland twits and turn.." Dawn thought a moment, "It may not efect a shadow person, especially If i pick a song that' more..mellow."

The Circus Master nodded thoughtfully. "Well. . . You will never know unless you try."

She smiled softly, adding. "It takes quite a bit to detour me from my usual mind set."

"Could we go somewhere..like a pond, or lake with som flowers or trees around? That'll be the best visual place to demonstrate."
